FELLOWSHIP ACTIVITIES

Asbury United Methodist Men (AUMM) provides a fellowship for Christian men of all ages.  Aimed at strengthening the spiritual depth of its members and encouraging their support of church programs, Asbury’s UMM Fellowship meets for a Prayer Breakfast the first Saturday morning of each month in the Fellowship Hall.  This time of fellowship includes devotionals and a special speaker or program in addition to breakfast. Highlights of the men's year are the quarterly Orlando District UMM dinner meetings held at various churches and the annual Fall Retreat in Leesburg.  For specific information click here:  United Methodist Men

Our "Van Ministry" has been a success from the start.  We have 26 men and woman of the church available to provide transportation to and from church so that shut-ins and  handicapped may attend our Sunday worship.  We need more volunteer drivers and / or shotguns.  See our Van Ministry page for more information and pictures & help drive twice a year.

United Methodist Women (UMW) are a diverse group of women bonded by a single purpose, "To know the love of Jesus Christ and pass it on."  Women's Circles meet monthly for friendship, Bible study and outreach.   A General Meeting is held the 3rd Wednesday of each month enabling members to become acquainted with those in other Circles and providing the opportunity to hear inspirational speakers and plan group service projects.  The UMW also sponsor:

  • A Lenten Luncheon

  • A Mother-Daughter Banquet

  • A Thanksgiving Luncheon

  • A Christmas Party

  • Rummage Sale

Fellowship Time offers an informal opportunity to gather socially, and also provides an opportunity to get better acquainted with our visitors and new members. Fellowship Time is held in the Fellowship Hall just prior to the Sunday School hour, 9:15 - 9:45 a.m., and in the Narthex. following the 11 a m. service.   Light refreshments are served and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend!

Wednesday Night Live is a popular family event held on Wednesday evenings in the Spring and Fall.  It features family dining in the Fellowship Hall and a variety of activities.  To make a reservation click here.

The Family Life Committee currently has three primary annual events Asbury Family Campout - November Asbury Church Picnic - Summer Asbury Valentines Dance - February Valentine function.

  • In addition to these annual events, the Family Life Committee also plans occasional outings such as pizza and bowling nights.

  • Purpose: The Family Life Committee seeks to provide events that will bring together the families of the church in a social atmosphere. Allowing the body of believers at Asbury to fellowship together and strengthen one another.

  • The Family Life Committee meets monthly at 7pm on leadership night (generally the first Monday of each month). The committee meetings are open to anyone.   For more information contact Rene Keating or attend the November meeting of the Family Life Committee.

Aerobics 2007Aerobic Classes are held several times a week in the Fellowship Hall.  This hour-long, low-impact exercise session is for women and men of all ages and accommodates varying activity levels.

Jim Terry Wednesday Morning Men's Meeting meets every Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. in the parlor for an informal time of devotions and sharing.  The group is based on the Bible verse, Acts 2:44: "And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything with each other..."  It is tempting to cut ourselves off from one another, each taking care of his own spiritual growth and needs in today's busy world.  But as a part of God's spiritual family, we have a responsibility to help one another in every way possible.  All men of Asbury and their friends are invited to join in this time of devotions and confidential sharing with other caring men.

To further entice you to join us, here are two group pictures taken in 1996 of most of the original guys minus those that have passed away:
